Having a troubled relationship can be one of the most stressful things in a persons life. The decision to end it or try and fix things can be horrendous to a persons outcome in life. How do people choose? How do people cope with the results and regret for the rest of their lives? Making up can be a solution to these questions, although you do not have to completely get back together with someone, being able to be friends again or at the very least being in good contact can help reduce ones stress levels and improve their quality of life thereafter.
Regardless of your situation before the relationship went sour or you broke up, there are some proven methods to solving this problem and making your life happier and regret less. However keep some things in mind first as you go about your business.
1. Do not get desperate, live your life free of stress and pain before you seek a solution in the person who caused so much pain in your life. If you are depressed and cannot get yourself back up, running back to the person you wish to make things right with can make yourself look pathetic, ruin your relationship for good, and make yourself feel even worse. The proper way to go about it is to get your life in order first.
2. In order to get your life together you have to first find peace. Peace with who you are, who you want to be, and your limitations in life. We all won't be rock stars and famous celebrities, honestly that is OKAY. Once you accept that, you can be happier with what you have. Set a goal for yourself, think of ways to improve who you are and the current life you live. Or else you are living for nothing, not changing from day to day.
3. Accept the fact that it may not work out. This is why step 1 and 2 are so important, if it comes down to it and your past friend or lover refuses to have anything to do with you, you must accept this and move on. It makes it a lot easier to accept this when your life is already in order and you do not NEED this person in your life to be happy, it would simply improve an already content and fulfilled existence.
4. Be careful, be cautious in your approach. Figure out what exactly made things wrong and do your best to either fix that problem, or come up with a way to explain it to the other person as to why it happened and why it will never happen again. You want things to work, then you need to prove it to the other person and to yourself that they will work.
5. Make sure that YOU yourself are ready. Are you trying to get back together with someone who made your life miserable but you can't live without them? Maybe its better to wait and find someone else to distract you before you rashly run back into the other persons arms.
