Finding A Mate

By Jayde Johanssen

Relationships are complicated things. Anytime human interaction takes place on more than just a basic level, things can get difficult. This is especially true since not everyone in the dating world is looking for the same thing. People have different ideas about relationships, dating, monogamy, and a whole host of other important issues that can have serious repercussions between people. Disagreements between beliefs and wants often surface once people have gone far enough down a certain path to leave one person feeling hurt.

Men are often times the ones blamed with leaving a trail of broken hearts behind them, but women are just as capable of wanting to keep things casual and leaving a man to lick his wounds once she is done with them.

While it is impossible to know what kind of relationship a person is looking for when first meeting them, people can exercise a little control over their dating pool by seeking out particular locations. For men in the dating world they can look in particular areas in order to increase the chances that they will find someone with romantic goals similar to their own. Depending on what type of relationship a guy is looking for, there are places they should be sure to visit and others that they should definitely avoid.

The blaring music and flowing booze that are found in clubs and bars make them ideal places to meet a hookup, and a completely terrible place to meet someone to start a deeper relationship with. It is difficult to carry out any kind of conversation and get even a basic idea of who a person is, which is not typically a good start to a relationship.

Men that want a more substantive relationship should seek women out in more commonplace locations like the grocery store, a coffee shop, or bookstore. Meeting women in the daytime in a quiet, comfortable place increases the chances that a man will meet someone with similar interests and goals.

When a woman is approached while doing one of her daily tasks she feels as if the man might be interested in her as something more than just a piece of meet. The manner in which a man approaches is also important. Creepy is creepy whether in a bar or bookstore so it is important that a man remain casual, friendly, and respectful when trying to talk to a woman.

Some women might be startled to have a stranger speak to them while they are enjoying a book so guys should tread lightly. Asking for a woman's e-mail is a better bet than her phone number since it allows both sides to maintain some distance until getting to know one another a little better.

If a guy is looking for a genuine, committed relationship that is great, but he should play it on the cool side when it comes to letting a woman know this. Telling a woman right off the bat that a man is looking for a serious relationship can be a little overwhelming. Even if she is looking for the same thing, leading with that can be a bit much right at the beginning of a relationship. Choosing a more casual location and remaining calm and cool is the best way to find love.
