Exercise Prudence and Maturity While Dating

By Benjamin West

As young boys and girls become conscious of their developing sexuality, they may be disturbed or puzzled about the emotional, biological and physical changes they are experiencing. When puberty begins, youth have a preference to hang out with individuals of the same sex, who're going through the same changes.

When youth begin to mature and get confident, slowly they begin showing curiosity and interest in the other sex. In the adolescent years, males and females learn slowly ways for behaving with individuals of every age and sex. They learn to become more independent and to make their own decisions.

In the United States and the majority of non third world societies, children of both sexes intermingle and are used to being in each other's company from a young age. Throughout childhood, they learn and play together, and enjoy a number of joint activities. The boy-girl relationship assumes significance only during the teen years and can, at times, be hard to understand.

As teenagers become mature emotionally, sexually and socially, they begin to seek closer and more personal relationships with the members of the opposite sex. The age at which dating starts differs. It may either be dependent upon the environment they were raised in, to some degree, or it may stem from a desire to be like their friends.

Many teenagers begin to date by going out with another couple or a group of couples, to feel safe and emotionally secure. Throughout the later teenage years, it's not uncommon to see youth with a preference for dating one on one, particularly in the current time. Generally, the boy asks the girl for a date and assumes responsibility for her. The majority of males and females look for their parents to approve prior to dating, unless they desire to do it in secret.

When going on a date, boys as well as girls have fun doing little things that bring them close to each other. They will want closer physical contact than merely holding hands and kissing and slowly an intimacy develops. Maturity and self control are helpful. Serious consequences can come from a minor slip or surge of emotion that can create remorse, resentment, and social stigma.

It is utterly important that youngsters understand and manage their sexual desires. When they do, probably they may have more happy and feel-good relationships with members of the opposite sex. There can be nothing more detrimental than getting entangled with a wrong person and hence it is better not to get carried away. A good dating should be the outcome of important moral standards and fervent personal emotions. Do not forget, that true love is eternal, yet lust lasts a moment.
