Creative Ways To Show Appreciation To Employees

By Willis Barnes

Employees are indispensable elements of an organization. It's through them that the daily operations of the company are up and running. It is therefore just proper to give back to them what they truthfully deserve, especially those who have been the most loyal to the company. Make this a practice during special occasions including the employee's anniversary or birthday or for each great milestone that he or she has given to the company.

In order to show how you truly appreciate their invaluable services, you may reward them for their trustworthiness, perseverance and hard work. This means giving them a little something instead of just uttering such words as 'Many thanks', 'You did a great job' or 'Keep up the good work'. Give more meaning to these words or phrases by offering them corporate gifts that they will be thankful for. Such a gesture will do a lot in pushing them to function better and continue to be great assets to the company.

Make it special by giving them personalized items. Things that have their names printed on them rather than just the generic items labeled with the company's name are a better option. So that they will not just end up in storage behind cabinet doors, the items have to be functional and practical. A portfolio bag or USB thumb drive bearing their names will absolutely leave a lasting impression on the employee as these are things that they can use within and out of the workplace.

Corporate gift items for employees can also take the form of gift baskets. Note that gift baskets are not always about food. You may show your thoughtfulness by choosing things that the employee can use for his or her favorite pastime. Or you could gather items that are included in the employee's list of favorite things, such as a DVD copy of a favorite movie, audio CD of a favorite band or gift certificates to use in a favorite shop.

Get them something that you know they wouldn't normally buy for themselves. Consider jewelry, a timepiece or home appliances for truly trusty employees who have given their services to the company for the longest time. Each of these, especially if it is made of exceptional quality workmanship, will surely empower anyone who receives it.
