NCAA College Basketball News

March Madness comes down to one game for the Big East regular season championship. On March 8, Louisville plays the Georgetown Hoyas. Though the Hoyas are 8-2 in their last 10, it's the Cardinals who really seem to make their way into March Madness. Louisville has not lost since a 69-67 game, Connecticut, with their team-first attitude and a strong coach, Rick Pitino.

The Cardinals will have to beat Georgetown at the Verizon Center in Washington DC that no other team has done this year. With a number of problems at the start of the season, including injuries and losses, many people were pessimistic about the Cardinals. However, they are general and against the spread 11/01/16 8-1-1 ATS this year.

Most of their success is due to Padgett's inspired game. Padgett broke his knee earlier in the season and despite the injury, he returned after missing just six weeks. A lesser player would have missed a lot more than that with a broken kneecap. The Cardinals know that Padgett's leadership that the difference in turning things around this season made.

Padgett has averaged 11.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2 assists in 22.7 minutes per game. He also Pitino's team approach has helped the Cardinals to position itself in the Big East Championship. They were in last place in the conference at the beginning of the year and now they're tied for first, which is not usually how a team makes it to the championship.

The Hoyas' Roy Hibbert could be causing the Cardinals a run for their money. Between his size and the guidance of coach John Thompson, he again Hoyas' defensive status. Hibbert averaged 2.3 blocks per game. His team is the best in the nation in defensive field goal percentage and fourth in points allowed. Hibbert is proud of the defense and helping his teammates from that of the weak side and blocking shots. Hibbert also has improved his play everywhere and leads the Hoyas in both points and rebounds.

Thompson feels Hibbert has matured both professionally and personally this year. But the Hoyas not much of a bet so far, with only 11 to 14 and 4-8 ATS at home. Georgetown had two barbed-wire victories, one more than Villanova over Marquette and one that could have gone the other way and she sank in the standings.

Jonathan Wallace hit two free throws with a tie score and 1 / 10 of one second on the clock so the Hoyas a 55-53 victory against the Wildcats. Wallace was polluted than the arc with 2.8 seconds left in the game against the Golden Egal. He made all three free throws, sending the game into overtime, where the Hoyas took a two-point win.

Both teams are 14-3 in conference play and are the top five defensive teams in the country. Georgetown is 14 / 1 to the NCAA Basketball Championship. Louisville's 8 / 1. With Georgetown and Louisville are as close as they are, free throws the difference between a team going into the conference championship as the top seed. The Hoyas shot 0669, the 0659 Cardinals.
