Blackouts Are fun!

I'm not the type of guy who goes out and paints the town red twice a week. My friends have a hard enough time getting me out on a monthly, or even every-other-month basis. When I do go out...oh boy, do I go out. I tend to turn the bars upside down, makes half the bar laugh, and make the other half want to kill me. I just have a real issue with self control when I'm drinking. I never really want to have "just one." It always turns into "just 5 more."

The first time I woke up and couldn't remember most of the previous night, I knew there was a problem. I turn into this different person who has no common sense or care for other's feelings. Of course, I only know this because of the consequences, stories, and pictures I observe the next day.

If you were to talk to me on the phone during the day and then talk to me after I've had ten shots of whiskey, you would be talking to two people who don't share any of the same traits at all. I find the things I do while drunk to be reprehensible. Drunk me would think that sober me is a boring stiff. Drunk me laughs at funny t-shirts that sober me would find silly. Are you starting to understand the severity? Everyone thinks it's funny but me!

An example of this would be when I drank eight shots of bourbon within the span of only two hours. That was a bit of a mistake. My friends tell me that they know I'm about to get "really fun" when one of my eyes gets crooked and looks slightly to the left.

In this instance, I was thrown out of the bar in just a matter of three hours after walking through the door. In the time between my last shot and getting thrown into the gravel outside by the bouncer, I did the following: I showed my scrotum to a random girl, I drank someone else's shot, I drank the same person's shot when they ordered another, I got punched, I jumped behind the bar and drank straight from a bourbon bottle after throwing a wadded-up hundred dollar bill at the bartender, I kissed one bartender (female), I slapped another bartender on the rear (male), and I declared that drinks were on the house. It took a bouncer, the owner of the bar, and a (previously rump-slapped) bartender to wrestle me out from the walk-in cooler.

There is absolutely no helping my condition. I can't drink more to increase my tolerance, because that just means I'll get wasted more often. I don't want to stop drinking at all, but how can I continue when I have no self control. My friends thought it would be funny to buy me a funny t-shirt online that says "Get Me Drunk And Enjoy the Show." I think random people buying me booze at the bar is not really a solution to my problem. I guess we will find out the next time I go.

By doing this, you are not only becoming a nagger, you are also becoming a materialistic girlfriend. Before we go through the process of curing your nagging character, let us first define what nagging and being a nagger is.

Nagging is the act of constantly and forcefully prompting people about things using manipulation. Take for instance, if you want your boyfriend to see you every night, you are a nagger if you remind him 1 hour before and call him every 5 minutes just to remind him not to be late. You are more of a nagger if you remind him how late he was on your previous meeting. You are also more of a nagger if you emphasize that he is a no good boyfriend because he is late all the time.

Another example of being a nagger is by putting too much pressure on your boyfriend to give you things that he has problem getting. You are also a nagger if you are constantly jealous of his exes and you keep on checking on him and his whereabouts.

Curing your nagging spirit requires force on your end. If you want are unhappy of being the nagger that you are, you have to sacrifice a lot of things just so you could change your character. One way of changing your nagging ways is to start doing a lot of mediation exercises. Mediating can free your mind from worries and stress.

Getting older gives people a new perspective about things especially with relationships in your twilight years. There is no official date when the twilight period starts for anybody, but whether it is as young as 50 to as old as 70, one will be able to tell on their own once it has descended upon them.

At this particular time in your life, you will find that relations you have with people will play a very important role. This goes for many kinds of relationships. This could be between you and brothers and sisters, the interactions you have with coworkers in the past, friends, a spouse, or a lover. It is important because at this time you are probably retired and have to find more meaning in the day-to-day things that you do.

When you eventually retire, it will have its advantages and disadvantages. The advantages are that you will have more free time to do things that you enjoy such as quilting or getting in a full round of golf every day. Meaning to life will come in the form of leisure activities and meeting new people during this period.

The disadvantage is that you may start to feel like there is too much empty time to fill and you start to get bored. Since you are so used to working, you may start to feel like what you are doing is not productive to others. Relationships and nurturing them, is very important during this time for you to feel fulfilled.

Some retired people may decide to do charitable work to make themselves feel more productive and useful, aside from their regular hobbies. Volunteering at a children's home or a soup kitchen can give any person a feeling of worth. Working with people who have the same heart and principles can be very satisfying.

There are associations that you can join with other people where you can share skills and meet people with same interests. Retired women might join a quilting club. Men may join a mechanics club where they tinker with cars and motorbikes. Discovering new relationships with people with the same hobbies can make you feel more relevant and productive.

Building these relationships in your twilight years can definitely help in keeping you feel active and relevant at this part of life. The last thing you want is to feel like you have no more purpose to others, and this is something you can turn around on your own by being able to identify what other activities interest you and how you can use personal skills to help others.
